Best Food Bloggers online

Today’s post is dedicated to two of the most influential and inspiring food bloggers: Jocelyn Delk Adams and Kristy Bernardo. On the occasion of Expo Milano 2015, we present you this special interview, and moreover, the Finder report that includes the interactive list of international influencers who write about food!

What has inspired you to have a blog about food? How would you describe your blog?

Jocelyn Delk Adams: Food has been such a big part of my life. Some of the most fond memories
I have were around the dinner table with family or in the kitchen learning to bake with my grandmother, mom and auntie. My daddy was also big in creating a big love of food for me.
He is the foodie in my family and exposed me to the best restaurants growing up. I would describe my blog as a big warm hug.

It brings you in because I try to share lots of stories about my family along with classic and modern twists on comfort food. I talk to my readers like they are my friends because that is exactly what they are.

Kristy Bernardo: I did not cook at all until I was about to have my first child almost 11 years ago. After our second was born, we’d moved to a new state and I really needed an outlet and, since cooking had become a serious hobby at that point, I decided to start sharing easy recipes I’d created. It grew from there and it’s been so much fun! Also an incredible amount of work
but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I definitely share super easy recipes that almost anyone could make; I love those easy yet flavor-popping dishes that make everyone sigh with foodie happiness!

What advice would you give to someone who would like to start writing a ‘food blog’ and achieve such a big success as you?

Jocelyn Delk Adams: My advice is to be authentic and “do you”. Finding a niche or having a unique perspective is crucial in a very saturated field like food blogging. You have to have something that sets you apart.

Kristy Bernardo: Consistency truly is key, especially in the competitive food blog market today.

Social media is (obviously) important, but you should be spending 75% of your time cooking, posting and creating new recipes. If your content is good – and you have enough of it – your readers will share it. I would also recommend not even thinking about monetization for the first year; just post as much great content as possible and take things from there.

What’s your favorite family recipe?

Jocelyn Delk Adams: My big mama’s homemade rolls are the best ever!

Kristy Bernardo: I get asked this question often and my answer is always that it changes ALL the time! I’m probably most “known” for my Carrot Souffle (it’s such a delicious, easy recipe and perfect for a side dish instead of sweet potato casserole; my girls gobble it up and it practically tastes like dessert!) but I have so many favorites I can never decide. Right now I’m loving my Cilantro-Jalape o Pesto – I use it in place of salad dressing and it’s SO good that I’ll sneak spoonfuls right from the fridge!

If you could share a meal with any 3 individuals, living or dead, who would they be and why?

Jocelyn Delk Adams
: Gosh this is hard but Oprah, Harriet Tubman and my mama or big mama. Now that’s one heck of a conversation.

Kristy Bernardo: Any one of my grandparents, because they were all amazing, interesting people; Eleanor Roosevelt, because she was such an inspiring, intelligent woman and/or my friend Lisa, who passed away fifteen years ago and I still miss her every day! She didn’t know me as a chef and I would love to see her reaction!
